Dr. Suzanne Wees is the director of the Idaho Neuroscience of Addiction Coalition (INAC). She has an unbridled passion for understanding why addictions become a disease and what actions can be taken to repair the brain.
Dr. Wees graduated from the Boise State University nursing program in the early 1980s. She was one of the first nurses in Idaho to become a Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) and has been teaching neuroscience in one capacity or another for over 30 years. Dr. Wees gives thoughtful, well researched talks on addiction, and how to recover from addiction. She has been invited to speak on the neuroscience of addiction for the Nurse Leaders of Idaho Conferences, the Idaho State Bar Association, the Ph.D. Pharmacy program at Idaho State University, local community colleges in Idaho, Arizona, and Washington state. She has also spoken to audiences of parents, students, teachers, and the general public. While her repertoire of presentations is large, she is also willing to develop new talks on a case-by-case basis. All presentations are tailored to location and audience. Dr. Wees also leaves plenty of time for Q&As.
Dr. Wees is the author of Desperately Seeking Dopamine: The Neuroscience of Addiction Made Ridiculously Simple and What To Do About It. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing Education and her Organizational Psychology Ph.D. from Grand Canyon University.
